UE/R: Police Smoke Out Six Armed Robbers, Motor Snatchers in Seven Days From Different Locations.

The Upper East Regional police command has arrested three suspected arm robbers from their various hideouts in the region for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities.

The regional police command as part of new security strategies adopted to fight the high increase in crime related activities in the region, on sunday, 11th July, 2021, arrested three suspected arm robbers who are alleged to be involved in several robbery activities in the Nabdam and Zebila Districts of the Upper East Region.

The suspects were arrested in their hideouts at Pelungu and Dakota, all in the Upper East region. The police retrieved 1 locally manufactured pistol,3 catridges of amunitions, one double edged knife, two unregistered motor bikes, five gold detector machines, and assorted mobile phones from the suspects.

All the three suspects who are in their early 20s: Maxwell Ziaba A.k.A Strong Man- 19 yrs, Bodozina Awudu A.K.A Network ABorber- 20 yrs, and Yidaana Shamshudeen- 20yrs have however admitted their involvement in robbing some Mosi men at the Takwa and Obusi, mining communities of the Talensi District after interrogation.

Meanwhile two victims of armed robbery attcks have identified identified two of the Gold detector machines as thiers which was robbed off them few weeks ago after reporting to the regional police CID.

The arrest of the three adds to the arrest of suspect Mumuni Bawa, an alleged kingpin and a major dishonest receiever of stolen motor bikes, and his accomplice who are agents for stealing, robbing and snatching motor bikes.

Suspects Atampugru Akolgo-44yrs, and Solomon Alika-28yrs are alledged agents who steal, robb and snatch motorbikes from various parts of the region and deliver them to Mumuni Bawa.

Suspect Bawa was arrested by a team of plain cloth men from the CID unit of the police comman of the region when he was about recieving a motorbike from one of his accomplice.

A search at the residence of Mumuni Bawa led to the retrieval of eight motorbikes, an amount of $10.000.00 suspected to be fake.

The suspect upon inerrogation by the police admitted to buying robbed motorbikes from one Solo who also has agents who steal, robb and snatch motorbikes for him.

The recent news of arrest of arm robbers in the region is expected to help reduce the high rate of arm robbery cases in the region.
