The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP), parliamentary candidate for the Bolgatanga East constituency, Mr. Silas Mathew Amoah has donated five tailoring machines to a seamstress whose shop was destroyed by fire some weeks ago.
The Bolgatanga East District Fire Service officers were said to have looked on helplessly during the inferno because their fire tender had been taken away by the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council September 2021.

Though the incident happened very close to the district fire station, not much could have been done as the officers looked on helplessly.
Presenting the five tailoring machine and an amount of two thousand Ghana cedis to the owner of the now destroyed shop, Mr Silas Mathew Amoah stated that he knew that what she has lost as a result of the fire incident is more than what he is giving, but assured that the district assembly is fully aware of the incident and as such will come in at the right time.
He bemoaned the absence of a fire tender as he attributed same to the reason the shop got completely raised down. He therefore appealed to the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Dominic Ayine to use the floor Parliament to called on the directorate of the Ghana National Fire Service to return the district fire tender to safe the district from suffering similar disasters.

The donor disclosed that his efforts has compelled the Member of Parliament to drill about ten boreholes in a month and also resume works on the abandoned library project.
He added that he started drilling boreholes when he was not even a parliamentary candidate.
“Those who thought I have run away, I am back. we are preparing, we are waiting for the one who will run away from Bolga East, turn and look at the shirt. what is the inscription? it is Mathew effect. when Mathew came, in the couple of one year, if you are following this road, you will see the library painted. When Mathew came, the Member of Parliament is going round commissioning boreholes himself, but they said it not about social media, when Mathew came, the Member said he has dug 83 boreholes, I am drilling about ten boreholes, but am not an Mp yet, but before the election 2024, I will drill about twenty.
We have someone who is working and the one who is pushed to work, so the Mathew effect is about pushing the Mp to work, but there is a lot of work ahead so if he wants to follow the Mathew effect, he will get tired”.

Madam Rose Atiya, the beneficiary thanked the parliamentary candidate for his timely kind gesture. For her, it will go a long way to support her resume her work because she was helpless and had no hope of returning anytime soon.
She Lamented how she lost about twenty showing machines, clothes and materials. she disclosed that she took a loan of about seven hundred thousand Ghana cedis to buy those materials to sell just a week before the fire incident.
She is there appealing to government, civil society organizations, Non governmental organization and philanthropists to support her to pay off her loan and get back fully.
The District Chief Executive for the Bolgatanga East, Mr. Albert Agana Akugre noted that the assembly is mobilizing to also support the victim very soon.
He however gave assurance he will collaborate with the new Upper East Regional minister to talk to the ministry to release the Bolgatanga East fire tender back to the district.
