Two Communities who are of relation in terms of their history (origin) in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region will lock horns in this year’s Ramadan Soccer Fiesta, a Soccer event in the Municipality namely; Atulbabissi and Tanzui. Atulbabissi beat Tindonsobligo and Tanzui beat Zongo at the semi-final state respectively.
Atulbabissi were the first to qualify to the final, when they beat Tindonsobligo on penalties 5-4 after a one all draw in open playing time. Accordig to records, Atulbabissi have never won the main competition but rather its top 4 in 2021. They won all their matches both during play and on penalties. So they are eger to have their name written in the Ramadan Soccer Fiesta records book.
Tanzui on the other side, have been a strong side since they started participating in this competition. Tanzui lost their first match on penalties 3-4 to Zuarungu after a goalless draw which made their dreams limited. But they qualified based on best losing communities qualification, so their dream was brought back again. They picked up their pieces and build up again. They won the trophy in 2019. This time around no Muslim dominated community at the final.
The two communities met at the group stage of the 2021 Ramadan Soccer Fiesta which was the 11th edition and Tanzui beat Atulbabissi 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Third and Fourth will be played on Saturday, 27th April, 2024, at the Mobile AstroTurf at 3:30 PM while the Final will be on Sunday, 28th April, 2024 on the same venue.
