I Did Not Apply Again for the DCE Position Because I Came in for a Purpose and I have Largely Achieved that- Dr. Christopher Boatbil.

The acting District Chief Executive Officer of the Talensi District Assembly has disclosed the reasons behind his reason not to apply again.

Hon. Christopher Boatbil in an exclusive interview granted to Mr. Simon Agana Blessing of Word Fm, disclosed that he decided not to reapply for the position of the DCE of the Talensi District because he believes he has largely achieved what brought him to the position.

“ Its true that I decided not to reapply for the position not because I don’t want the job but because I think that I came in for a purpose and I think largely, I’ve been able to do that and I think it is time for someone to come and continue”

Dr. Boatbil said he and his team at the assembly have done very well In the area of infrastructure and how the developmental agenda of the district has been prosecuted.

“With my team at the district assembly , I think that we have done enormously well in terms of infrastructure and how we have prosecuted developmental agenda in the district.”

Cataloging the developmental projects that have been carried out in the district during his tenure, the DCE said he and his team have been able to build very beautiful CHPS facilities with habitable accommodation facilities connected to the national grid to accommodate and make life comfortable for the health personnel working In the district.

Dr. Boatbil  said the accommodation for the health personnel has improved the provision of health services to the people because the nurses now stay in the Community. He said the connection of the facilities to the national grid has also reduced the frequent reports of snake bites by the health personnel.

“ The CHPS compounds and the health centre, very beautiful ones. We have built them with nurses quarters attached to them, given them water to make them comfortable to work. Because those days  the health sector alone, nurses had to commute from Bolga to work here and when it’s in the night, there was no one to attend to the people. Today many of our health facilities have staff accommodation and the nurses are comfortable and I am Happy they are comfortable”

The outgoing DCE said the Yinduri CHPS compound which hitherto had no electricity has now  been connected to the national grid and nurse who were been bitten by snakes have no such issues again.

In the area of Education, Hon.Boatbil said he will loose count of the educational infrastructure that has been constructed during his tenure. He however mentioned the construction of the NVTI regional facility that is been constructed in the Talensi district and has been partly roofed.

“ As for education we can’t count, they are many. We have been able to get government to approve for the construction of a modern technical school at Gbeogo”

On electricity,  the hon DCE said many communities that had not been connected to the national grid, have now been connected to the national grid’

I AM LIVING OFFICE WITHOUT REGRETT

Dr. Christopher who is waiting on the president to nominate a substantive DCE for the Talensi district said his reign as the presidents representative in the district for the past four years has been a success .

He said he will always turn his back to look at his tenure with pride without regrets.

“ I have no regrets. I’m happy because it was during my tenure that the president cut the sod for the construction of the Pwalugu Multi Purpose Dam and there is no way that the history of the dam will be written without my name. It was during my period that the affordable hosing was started, its my tenure that the modern vocational school was built. Its my tenure that the Namolgu Dam , one of the biggest dams in the Frafra area was built, Its my tenure that so many health facilities and educational facilities were constructed ;so why will I regret? Yes I walk out of the district bare chested’

The Hon. DCE who has since gone back to pick his books and pens and returned to the lecture hall as a lecturer at the Bolgatanga Technical University,  said over 20 infrastructure  projects were executed during his four year tenure as the DCE of the Talensi District which brings him satisfaction and accomplishment.
