Mr Mathias Abolga Abangbase taking his award for his excellent performance.

Mathias Abolga Abangbase, was born in 1998 in Sumbrungu, a stone-throw town from the Upper East Regional town of Bolgatanga.
Mathias had his basic school education at Kolbia Primary and Sumbrungu-Kolgo Junior High School. Due to financial constraints, Mathias sat home for several years before joining the Dazongo Junior High School to take the Basic Education Certificate Examination in 2015. While awaiting his results and placements, he started working to fund his Senior High School education.

Before and during Mathias’ admission to Navrongo Senior High School (NAVASCO), Mathias took up small-scale mining (galamsey), yogurt sale and also worked as a sales boy in a chop bar to finance his Senior High School education.

He migrated to Accra to hussle after his Senior High School Examination. While in Accra, Mathias heard about ReCAS from a friend, and with sales from yoghurt and financial support from family relations, he applied for a Diploma in Basic Education. While studying for his diploma, Mathias ventured into a poultry farm business with his friends as part of the Student Led Business Initiative Programs. During the second year, the Founder and President of ReCAS, Rev Moses Asaah Awinogya paid all his outstanding fees and provided resources for his upkeep upon hearing the touching story of a rural young man from Sumbrungo-Kologo to enable him complete his course.
After Abolga completed his Diploma program, the Founder and President of ReCAS, Rev Moses Asaah invited him to have his National Service with ReCAS. During this time, Mathias was offered a 50% scholarship to offer a degree program in Basic Education by the President and Founder. It was during his bachelor’s degree program that Mathias was offered a position as a Teacher at the Regentropfen Basic School. This came as a great relief especially in terms of paying his school fees.
Mathias has been a devoted Christian who works passionately under Rev. Hezekiah Anaba. He is an energetic, God-fearing, affable, and respectful young man who believes that one’s background and family situation should not be a stumbling block in life.
Speaking exclusively to Word News at the 6th congregation and 7th matriculation of Regentropfen College of Applied Sciences, he indicated that it was not easy for him financially, but the President and Founder were supportive of him as well as his family which made his dream a reality. His next step, he indicated is to pursue his masters degree in ReCas, the university that helped him to unearth his talent.

Ing Samuel Avaala Awonnea council chairman of ReCas

Addressing the graduates at the 6th congregation and 7th matriculation, the council chairman of the university, Ing Samuel Avaala Awonnea called on government to prioritize the Bongo -Balungu – Namoo Stretch road to help increase the enrolment in the school.

“I call on the Government to prioritize the construction of the stretch of road from Bongo township to Kansoe, as this will significantly contribute to the growth and development of not only ReCAS (whose reason for existence is human capital development) but also the entire Kansoe community and beyond.
The unwavering courage of the founding president and the college itself, our unwavering resolve against all odds, to bring about social change, entrepreneurship, poverty elimination, bridging the gap between the poor and the rich, bringing quality tertiary education of international repute to our doorstep, and transforming the seeming disadvantages inherent in our part of the country and the world into advantages, is not only daring but also worth the risk; the higher the risk, the greater the return. This is the very essence of ReCAS – to question the status quo, to envision and create a better future aligned with the aspirations of the current generation and those to come”
