Navrongo Central MP Drags Sports Minister to Parliament to Answer Questions on Abandoned Sports Stadium.

The Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Constituency, Hon. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, has dragged the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Usssif, to the plenary of Parliament to answer questions on when the construction of the Navrongo Resource centre/ Stadium will resume and when it will be completed.

Government in 2018 commenced the construction of 10 Youth Resource Centres accross the country at the cost of $2.5m. Though other regions have had theirs completed and some at very advanced stages of completion, the Navrongo Youth Resource Centre construction has halted over two years now with the contractor abandoning site.

Some youth of the Municipality in June, 2022, poured on the Principal roads of Navrongo to protest against the delay in the completion of the Youth Resource Centre which was scheduled to be completed in 2020 and the subsequent abandoning of the site by the contractor.

In the business statement of Parliament for the week ending 3rd March, 2023, cited by Word News, Hon. Samson Tangombu Chiragia, has filed a question to ask the Minister of Youth and Sports when construction work on the Navrongo Youth Resource Centre will resume and the New date for Completion.

“Mr.Sampson Tangombu Chiragia (Navrongo Central): To ask the Minister of Sports when the second phase of the Youth Resource Centre/Sports Stadium in Navrongo will resume and when work work will be completed

The Youth Resource Centre when completed, will provide a befitting and well equipped sports facility to sports enthusiasts and to unearth sports talents for the region and the country.
