Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, the NPP Presidential hopeful has toured the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga, to interact with party delegates as part of ground work preparation towards the NPP Presidential primaries which would be held in a yet to be determined date.
Mr. Alan Kyeremanten and his team on Thursday 23rd February, 2023, walked through the Bolgatanga central market where he interacted with market women amidst chants of “Alan Cash”, “Adwuma Wura” and songs from the market women. A smiling Alan waved at shop owners who stood at the entrance of their stores to catch a glimpse of the former minister as he walked through the market.
He and his team then moved to the Plush Blue Sky Hotel in Zuarungu where some of the delegates had converged, to engage them and explain them to why the former Trades minister is the ideal replacement for Mr. Nana Akuffo Addo in the upcoming NPP primaries.
Mr. Alan Kyeremanten earlier in the morning, was on GBC Ura Radio where he accoutered to the people of the region what he has achieved for the NPP party and the nation as a whole. He credited himself for the One District One Factory initiative and the establishment of assembling plants by some car manufacturing companies and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area in Ghana.
The deputy spokesperson of the Alan Kyeremanten campaign team, Mr. Richard Nyamah, in an interview with the media explained that it anticipate that the number of Presidential hopefuls could increase to five or more which will necessitate a supper delegates conference, which will include the national executives, regional executives, constituency Chairmen and a few others, to reduce the number to five. And that they have hit the ground to touch base with the delegates to ensure that when the conference is held, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten will come out top.
“Reading into the future, it is possible that we may have five or more than five aspirants and it is more likely considering the number of people who have declared their intentions to contest. We have come to the Upper East Region to meet with supper delegates and traditional and religious leaders to seek for the blessings and anointing of God and traditional leaders. So we are ensuring that when we go to the supper delegates conference, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten among the about nine who have declared their intention to contest, will be number one.”
Mr. Nyamah said they have observed that there is an attempt by some people to whip people into line using their political power and money to vote for them because of the small number who will take part in the supper delegates when the conference is held.
” There is an attempt that they would whip people into line because the numbers are few, they would probably buy their way and use political power and pressure to whip people into line so that the supper delegates conference will go in one direction so that there would not be need for delegates conference.”
” But the party soldiers, polling station executives and the constituency executives that have been working for this party since we came to power and who you have since neglected and whose phone calls you have refused to pick, who you refused to attend to when they come to your offices in Accra are waiting for you and whether you like it or not, there will be a delegates in Ghana for the NPP to select a candidate and that is where you would know who is Who.”
Mr. Richard Nyamah also countered suggestions being made by some senior members of the NPP that this is the time of the Dombo to rule. He said the party wasn’t formed by only three individuals.
“So the party has only three branches, the Danquah, the Busia and Dombo? what about the Paa Grants, what about the RS Blays? They were those who contributed to officially have the party that we now call NPP. So if today, you are talking about the foundations and the original founders who come from across this country , and you decide that you can only identify three legs or branches of the party, then you are doing a disservice to the party.”
