The Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East constituency, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has pledged to upgrade the well-known Zuarungu Catholic Church field into an ultramodern stadium if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regains power in the upcoming general election.
Dr. Ayine emphasized that the next NDC government will facilitate the transformation of the Catholic Social Centre park. He also announced plans to form a football club that will utilize this upgraded facility, which he believes will significantly boost soccer among the youth in the constituency.
“If John Dramani Mahama wins the election, God willing, we will upgrade the Catholic Social Centre field to become an ultramodern stadium. I told my brother Michael Akabori, I’m (MP) going to form a football club and this is the field they are going to be using,” Dr. Ayine stated.
Speaking to his constituents at the field on Friday, shortly after successfully filing his nomination forms to recontest the seat, Dr. Ayine accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of making false promises regarding the construction of an ultramodern astroturf facility at the Zuarungu Agricultural field. He alleged that the NPP cut the sod for this project only to distract from their failure to allocate funding to execute it, labeling their actions as mere political gimmicks.
Furthermore, Dr. Ayine claimed that his opponent has been misleading constituents to win the seat. He urged the electorate to consider his academic and political experience and to guide their decision to retain him in order to continue the development agenda for the Bolgatanga constituency.
