UE/R:Bongo gets three sheanut processing projects, six others under SOCO

The district chief executive for Bongo in the Upper East Region, Rita Atanga has disclosed that the Bongo district has benefited nine projects under the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) with financial support from the World Bank.

The district chief executive, who was on a working visit to the project sites noted that the nine projects under the face one of (SOCO) are dotted across the district. The projects include two Junior high school blocks, one CHPS, one rehabilitated dam, construction of two bridges and three sheanut processing pavilion with all the necessary equipment installed when completed.

Speaking exclusively to Word news, Madam Rita Atanga noted that when the three sheanut extraction processing pavilion are completed, it will boost the economic growth of the people since the sheanut materials will process by the people themselves in more better ways.

The three sheanut extraction process pavilions are located in Bongo Beo Akayonga ,Zorko and Ayopia.

Some of the other six projects are located at various places across the district. A three unit JHS classroom block for Zorko, another three unit classroom block for the Daliga girls school, a CHPS at Abelizanga in the Namoo zone, construction of bridge to link Bogrigo and Dua communities and another CHPS at Namoo.

“We have three classroom block at Zorko, a CHPS at Abelizanga which in the Namoo zone ,we have sheabutter extraction process pavilions at Ayopia under Namoo, another sheabutter extraction process pavilions at Zorko as well Beo Akayonga so SOCO is such that we want everybody to be part, so we have spread the projects around to the benefits of all the communities. we can always get to mobilise people to come together and work together and learned”.

According to her, the assembly in collaboration with the (SOCO) regional coordinator has concluded in plans to pay Labourers every two weeks as the initial plans was to pay them every four weeks, but this, she observed has delayed the projects due to some misunderstanding from the contractors and labourers.

The regional (SOCO) coordinator, Samuel Agarko Larbi expressed his satisfaction of the progress of work so far. He stated that most of the projects are at 70 to 80 percent completion with quality not been compromised.

According to Nuzaal Felix, a contractor with Makoso enterprise noted that process so far was 30% and this was due to the payment of labourers which the assembly is supposed to reimburse every four weeks.
