The Former president of Ghana and Presidential hopeful of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani has stated that the two parliamentary seats of the Bolgatanga Central and Bolgatanga East constituencies remain very important seats to the NDC and called on the delegates of the two constituencies to safeguard the seats by closing their ranks after the 13th May,2023 delegates conference.
The two seats are currently held by two prominent members of the NDC, Hon. Isaac Adongo of the Bolgatanga Central Constituency and Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine of the Bolga East Constituency.
The ranking member on finance in Parliament, Hon. Issac Adongo is the the current member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency and is going unopposed to retain the blessings of the NDC to represent them in the 2024 elections.
Another important member of the party who was the deputy Attorney General in the last NDC government and the ranking member on legal and subsidiary legislations in Parliament, Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, is facing competition from Hon. Emmanuel Abereinga to win the slot to represent the NDC in the upcoming general elections.
Prof. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine in what many described as political maturity, called his only competitor, Dr. Abereinga to the podium during the campaign tour of Former president John Dramani Mahama at the GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga and together they called on delegates to carry out a clean campaign devoid of insults to ensure that they are able to regroup and face the 2024 elections after the primaries.
“What i want us to do tonight is to tell our various supporters that this might be a do or die affair but it is not a life and death affair (La dage kum nyuungo). So i want my supporters and the supporters of Emmanuel, regardless of who wins the primaries to come together to come together and give victory to John Mahama and the parliamentary candidates.”
If you say i support Dr. Abereinga and relapse because he did not win or you say i won’t take part in the campaign because i support Prof. Dominic , we may give the NPP the opportunity to steal us because if you are not vigilant at your branch and very keen on the ballots, they can still us.”
Former President, John Dramani Mahama was added his voice to the call for unity in the Bolga East Constituency after the primaries and called on all supporters to burry their differences immiediately after the primaries and suport the candidates and the party to retain the two seats because they are important to the party.
” What i saw today has gladdened my heart because it was so beautiful. I can see that any of them who emerges, they will shake hands and they will come together and work together. So my advice is to the supporters. A lot of times there is no problem between the leaders, the problem is the supporters. When one candidate has been elected, when the supporters who supported the losing candidate say we want to come and help, the supporters of the winning candidate say you went and supported Engineer or you went and supported Lawyer. No, we are more a part of the NDC. So the day we finish the election, which ever of them that wins, i want all of us to drop everything and come back together as one because Bolga East is important to us and Bolga Central is important to us because we need a healthy parliament because i can tell you that we are wining the 2024 elections.”
