Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine Files to Contest NDC Primaries, Promises to Develop Bolga East Into a Municipality.

The Member of Parliament for the Bolga East Constituency, Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has successfully filed his nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primaries of National Democratic Congress in the Bolga East Constituency with a promise to develop the Constituency into a Municipality.

In an address to the media after submitting his documents to the election committee of the NDC at the party headquarters in Zuarungu, Dr. Dominic discounted allegations that he has not performed to the expectations of the electorates, stating that government’s deliberate decision not to complete existing projects initiated under the NDC or allocating new projects to the Constituency is the reason for its slow development.

” Those who seek to under rate what I have achieved are being mischievous because if you take all the surveys that have conducted from 2013 up till today, i am always one of the best performing MP in the whole of the Upper East Region.

“You have seen what I have been able to do especially when we were in government. The projects that are littered all over the constituency, for me to achieve that in my first term and second term and then in my third term, the New Patriotic Party government decided that they are going to starve me of funds to continue with project in our constituency and for them to turn around and say we are not performing is for me very dishonest to say the least.”

Citing a library complex project that was started in 2016 but has been stalled, Dr. Ayine said after the change of power in 2017, government only honoured one certificate raised by the contractor.

” I give the example of the library. The library was conceived as a community library for th entire constituenc. It was been founded by the GNPC. When the NDC was in power, certificates were presented and payments were made for the library to continue and then we lost power in 2016 and in 2017 only one certificate was paid by the GNPC and the library has become a white elephant.”

Hon. Ayine prayed that there will be change of power in 2024 for the NDC to come back to power to complete the project.

” I am praying that the Lord almighty will see the down fall of the New Patriotic Party in 2024 and that in 2025 John Mahama and his government will complete the library and we will come and commission it.

Justifying why he should be retained as the Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Ayine argued that he needs more terms in Parliament to be able to develop the Constituency into a Municipality like his colleagues who have stayed in Parliament longer than him are doing.

” I have to say that every vision has a time frame. It can be short term, it can be medium term and it can also be long term. Development is not an event, it is a process so when you have a vision to develop a constituency you can not treat it as an event as people want me to do. People want us to say that oh once you have gone for one term, you have achieved everything that you need to achieve so you have to step down for someone to take over. I think that is treating development as an event, it is a process and I am continuing with that vision to develop the Bolga East into a metropolis.”

Hon. Ayine was accompanied by a huge crowd of party branch executives and supporters amidst loud music and drumming and dancing, they walked from his private residence through some streets in the constituency to the party office where he filed his nomination forms.
