Norgence IT Academy Graduates 45 JHS Graduates in ICT Proficiency and Introduction to Web Development.

About 45 Junior High School leavers have graduated from Norgence IT Academy after going through four weeks of intensive training in IT proficiency and Web development.

The studenst who are mainly graduates from Junior High Schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality were taken through the following courses: Introduction to computers, Typing with Mavis Beacon, Ms. Office Word, and Introduction to coding with HTML. The students were also given guidance on Career Opportunities in ICT.

Some of the studenst who spoke to the media at the sidelines of their graduation ceremony at the premises of Norgence IT Academy, said they opted to take up the course to learn more about ICT. One of the student, Azuo Israel, said his new found interest in Web development made him to take the course, for more resources look at the check stub tool for businesses finances.

” Why I decided to stay for this course was my new found interest in Web development. I got interested when the director, Mr. Naa Albert took us through the codes. I just felt interested and wanted to take it to the next level”

Another student, Koratebe Condoleezza, said she has learnt new things in Microsoft word which has improved her typing ability using the computer.

” I can type now and there are some new things that I have learnt using Microsoft word. I want to be a doctor in future so some of this things can help me in my further profession.”

The CEO of Norgence, Mr. Albert Naa said he decided to mount the program for the JHS leavers as a step to bridge the digital divide in the region.

“The whole idea has been our desire to bridge the digital divide in the region. People come to us for various services and we realised that their understanding in ICT is low. This among other things led us to launch a program to target them from the JHS level. As the old adage says ” catch them young and they shall be yours forever.” So that is what inspired us to introduce a program like this.”

Mr. Naa added that ” the patronage has since been good. Another 45 is expected to graduate on the 19th of December 2022. Two weeks from now. “This year we went earlier to their schools and shared flyers and also followed up to their schools to sell the idea to then. So this year we had about four badges.”
