Hon.Isaac Adongo to Bawumia:I Have Never Seen a Receipt for Bribe Before. What of your lies?

Hon. Isaac Adongo, the Menber of Parliament for the Bolgatanga Constituency and a fierce critic of Dr. Mahamud Bawumia has taken a swipe at the Vice President over the former’s reaction to a yet to be premiered video documentary titled ” Galamsey Economics” in which a minister of State makes damming revelations about the conduct of the Vice President.

In a short video posted on the social media handle of Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which is a prelude to the full video, the Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, is heard apparently using the name of the Vice President to collect money from supposed ” Investors” as fees that should be paid before seeing the Vice President (“appearance fees”)

Reacting to the video in circulation on social media in the early hours of Monday 14th November, 2022, the Vice President denied Knowledge of the “appearance fees” and called for the dismissal of the Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen.

“My attention has been drawn to a video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas (as posted on his social media handle) showing the Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, apparently using my name, inter alia, to peddle influence and collect money from supposed investors. I would like to state that if what the minister is alleged to have said is accurately captured in the video, then his position as a minister of state is untenable. He should be dismissed summarily and investigated. I am not aware of any such meeting held by Minister Adu Boahen or a supposed “appearance fee”.

Dr. Bawumia added that his most cherished asset is his integrity.

“My most cherished asset in life is my integrity and I will not allow anyone to use my name to engage in corrupt activities.”

Hon. Isaac Adongo however took a swipe at the Vice President’s statement on integrity, questioning if receipts are given to people who lie?

“Did Dr Bawumia say he has integrity because he’s not aware of any fees paid to him? I have never seen a receipt for bribe before. What of your lies?.

The president has however dismissed the Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, and referred him to the Office of the Special Prosecutor for investigation.
