Zuarungu: Agenda 111 Project Taking Shape After President’s Visit to the Site.

The construction of government’s Agenda 111 project in katanga, located in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region has begun taking shape with improved speed of work after the visit of the President to the facility site in Early August, 2022.

The president, Nana Akuffo Addo during a two day working visit to the region, visited the site to see for himself the progress of work on the facility but was me with disappointment when he got to the site. The project was still at the foundation level without any erected building; the president couldn’t even step down from his car.

A visit to the site by our reporter, Simon Agana, on Saturday, 26th November, 2022 to see the progress of work saw a different picture. The contractor has erected some of the structures to the lintel level while few workers were also busy preparing some areas of the secured land to spread concrete on.

It was also observed that major part of the facility was still at the foundation level without any work on them except them being filled with filling materials.

At the time of our visit, there were only eight workers on site without the usual bustling and hustling by construction workers and machines at construction sites. Some construction tracks were also packed at the site.

President Nana Akufo-Addo performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the Agenda 111 on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.

The Bolgatanga East District Hospital project is part of 88 hospitals to be constructed across Ghana in districts without district hospitals. Each District Hospital project will cost $16.88m.

In the Upper East Region, the Bolgatanga East, Nabdam, Kasena Nankana West, Builsa South, Binduring, Tempane, Garu and Pusiga districts would benefit from the Agenda 111 project.

The project, when completed, would each have facilities such as Outpatient services, including consultation for medical and surgical cases, Ophthalmology, Dental and Physiotherapy and Imaging services and more.
