Agenda 111 Takes off in Binduri District.

Government has commenced the construction of a district hospital as part of  government’s Agenda 111 initiative in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.

The project is under the Ghana Priority Health  Infrastructure Projects with funding by the government of Ghana.

At the time of  our visit to the site for the construction of the  facility, we saw that the construction firm, Top International Engineering Ghana Limited, has moved to site with his equipment and materials. The land had been cleared, demarcated and fenced.

The constructor was not available at the time of our visit but some residential staff at the facility disclosed that they moved to the site about three months ago.

In an interview with the media at the Binduri Community SHS, the Hon. Member of Parliament for Binduri Constituency, Hon. Abdulai Abanga said the constructor has moved to site and he expects that the constructor will deliver within the time schedule.

“ The constructor is there and we expect that the constructor will deliver in one year and six months time. I’m aware that they have been supported adequately by government and we expect that the Constructor too will deliver.”

The project when completed will serve as a referral health facility to the many smaller CHPs and health centres in the district.

Government’s Agenda 111 initiative is targeted at constructing befitting district hospitals for districts without districts hospitals in the country. Eight districts in the Upper East Region are expected to benefit from the initiative. So far, Bolga East , and Kasena Nankana East districts are the other districts that have cut sod for the commencement of construction of the health facilities.
