UE/R Police Grasp Notorious Armed Robber

Police in the Upper East Region has annouced the arrest of one of the most notorious armed robbers on its wanted list.
public relations officer of the Upper East Regional command, ASP David Fianko Okyere told word news  that the police apprehended the suspect, Bukari Bashiru who is 31 year-old in his house at  Balungu, a suburb in the Bongo district upon a tip of “the police in the Upper East Region has been able to arrest one suspect known as Bukari Bashiru who was highly suspected to be behind some of the motorbikes snatching, especially in the robberies attack in that jurisdictions, the suspect has been sent to court and he has been  remanded into police custody for two weeks to allow the police more time to gather information to support our persecution. we were able to retrieve six registered number plates of motorbikes that have been detached from motorbikes , GH¢6,920 .00 which was scatted on his chair, a master key, two brand new motorbikes, a tricycle, a pair of assorted spanners of various degrees and a bundle of electrical wires in his room” ASP David Fianko disclosed.
The Assemblymember of the Balungu electoral area, Mr Edward Abesiwine Asigre whose motorbike was snatched recently at Bongo Anafobiisi on the Bongo- Balga highways, has been narrating to word news how he was robbed. According to him, he didn’t know the angle the robbers came from only to asked him to lay down and handover his new motorbike keys, and to surrender all that was in the pocket.

Mr. Albert Agariga Akanmiim, the assembly member for the Anafobiisi electoral area told word news that his electoral area has suffered three reported robbery cases in January 2022. He described the incidence as very alarming. He, therefore appealed to the regional police command to beef up security in the Bongo district.

He also appealed to non-governmental agencies and philanthropists to support the Bongo police command with motorbikes to aid them in fighting crime. He bemoans that the district has only a pick up vehicle thus making it difficult for the police to fight the increasing rate of crime.
