Hon Elizabeth Azonko addressing the media .

They bewailed over the murder of the woman whom they say has nothing what so ever to  do with the chronic tribal conflict “the voice of the Woman, they say is a voice of hope, but we the mothers of the land of Bawku are saddened with this recently renewed conflict in the area, which led to the Barbaric and heinous murder of one Madam RUKAYA AWUDU, a Busanga women in Daduri, a suburb of Bawku on the 28th, December 2021 by some Mamprusi assailants just because she refused to direct them to one David’s House who is a Kusasi. Today, mothers’ have become targets in this useless chieftaincy conflict, our children are the ones killing us, those we laboured for nine months are paying us with evil, those we cried and mourned while giving birth to them are now causing us to mourn, aaaah! why WOMEN? Why our mothers? Where have we gone wrong? Is it because we fed you with our breast milk to make you men? Or because we had to sacrifice by going hungry just to make you survive? This is unheard of in the history of conflicts”.

The Queen mother of the Gumbo traditional area appealed to Civil Society Organisations, the ministry of Gender, children and social protection as well as all other women groups in Ghana to help find justice for the family of late Madam Rukaya Awudu as well as all those killed in the renewed conflict. “Hear the cry of your mothers and come to our aid in our quest for Justice on this heinous crime, the perpetrators of this murderers must not go unpunished and we will not rest until the agencies expedite actions by arresting and prosecuting those murderers”.
