Fish Out  All The Miscreants that Have Compromise the Peace In Bawku Zugraan

The overlord of the Kusaug traditional area – Zug-raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II has tasked the security forces to deal with miscreants behind the renewed gun battle in the Bawku Municipality.

Speaking at the celebration of the 34th annual Samampiid festival of the Chiefs and people of the Kussaug tradition area in Bawku, Naba Abugrago Azoka state “I sympathise with families who have lost their love ones including an innocent woman who was shot yesterday. May their souls rest in perfect peace. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.

I have the firm conviction that the conflict would have long been a thing of the past if the inter-ethnic Peace committee was that responsible and sincere to each other.  there is no doubt that government has played a very significant role in the situation which I sincerely appreciate, but I am of a clear opinion that more still has to be done. first of all, the perpetrators should be arrested and made to face the full rigours of the law. I have confidence in the security agencies of Ghana and l know they will fish out the miscreants in our midst. I, therefore urge them to not to relent in their efforts. the perennial conflict must end for Kusaug to return to its hay days for meaningful development”.

Addressing the celebrants of the festival under the theme “Promoting the Socio-economic and Cultural Development of the Kusaug through sustainable literacy” Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II assured government of his unflinching commitment in bringing lasting peace, tranquillity and above all justice in his jurisdiction.

He called on government through the ministry of Education to introduce Kusaal language as an examinable subject in the Basic Education Certificate Examination. This he noted will enlighten the pupils. He also wants Kussal language taught at the teacher training college.

He called on government to consider putting up districts’ hospitals in Binduri, Pusiga, Bawku, Garu and Tempane. This, he noted will ease the health challenges confronting the said districts.

The minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum who was the guest of honour told the feuding factions to abide by the supreme court ruling delivered in April 2003. “So far us the National House of Chiefs, the Regional House of Chief, the Kusaug Traditional Area is concern, the Overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area is Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, when the supreme court of this country pronounces on a dispute, there is a finality to that dispute until and unless that decision is overturned, that decision binds on every person in this country”.

Renewed gun battle between Kussasis and Mamprusis left many killed and several others injured in Bawku.
