Tempane, Garu Assembly members say “Lai Lai” to Paull Zumah and Osman Musah As DCEs.

The Assembly members for the Tempani District and its sister district, Garu have voted to reject the president’s nominees as Distict Chief Executives for the two districts.

The Tempane district was the first district to exhibit the powers of its assembly menbers when the 24 assembly members in the assembly voted to decide the confirmation of the DCE nominee. At the end of voting and counting, Hon. Paul Azunah Bugri obtained 11 votes while 13 voted against his confirmation with one spoilt vote thereby denying him the ono touch confirmation to continue as the political head of the assembly.

In the same way, the Garu district which was cut out from the previous Garu-Tempane district emulated the trend from its sister district, Tempane. The Hon. Osman Musah, who was nominated by the president as the DCE for the District, pulled 10 votes out of 19 assembly members present with one spoilt ballot.

Hon. Musah contested the 2020 general elections as the parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NPP and lost to the NDC, Hon. Albrt Akuka with a vote of 9,344 as against 12,407 votes.

The rejection of the two DCE nominees for the two districts makes it three after the Nabdam DCE, Hon. Agnes Anamoo also failed to pull the needed votes to secure her confirmation.

So far, two incumbent DCEs have failed to win the confidence of their assembly members to secure confirmation after the Builsa South DCE, Hon. Daniel Gariba escaped similar embarrassment by securing his confirmation by 0ne vote.
