The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly members overwhelmingly voted to confirm the president’s nominee as the District Chief Executive of the Assembly, Hon. Rex Asanga Simon.
That unanimous confirmation by the Assembly members however did not come on a silver platter but as a result of the hard work of the out-going MCE, Hon. Joseph Amiyuure Atuurah and other stakeholders.
Hon. Amiyuure disclosed that he had to put in a lot of effort to convince the assembly members to confirm the MCE nominee. Hon. Amiyuure said ,he called for a meeting between the assembly members in the assembly and the nominee to trash out every differences or cold blood that might have existed between some of the members and the nominee and is likely to mar the confirmation process.
“A day after the announcement of the names of the nominees of the various assemblies, I called a meeting with the assembly members and the nominee to convince them and for the nominee to speak to them and seek their support. Those who had problems with Hon.Rex voiced them and where he was wrong, he apologised and all differences were resolved.”
Mr. Amiyuure in response to a question by the host of the Community Watch Show on Word FM, Simon Agana Blessing, as to why he has not been given credit for the role he played towards the confirmation of the new MCE, Hon. Amiyuure said he contributed to the confirmation of Hon. Rex and the assembly members know what he did for the nominee to get 100% and would not be bordered if he is given credit for his role or not
“ I know I have contributed and the Hon assembly members are aware of the role I played. I think that is what is important for me. For me personally, in my heart, the fact that I’m in for the good, I’m not in for any malice and if it is appreciated, fine. I have done my part and if he didn’t acknowledge that, that is not important to me”
Hon. Joseph Amiyuure Atuurah aslo disclosed that in the just ended Regional delegates conference that was held in the GNAT hall,Bolga, on Sunday 02/10/2021, he was not acknowledge for contributing anything to support Hon Rex.
“ I played a major role but imagine our delegates conference I was not acknowledged with regards to giving any small support to him but this are not issues I should be bothered. I don’t think I should be bothered about them. I know I have done my part and the God that we are all serving is seeing and knows who is doing what?”
