Nabdam: Assembly Members vote to Reject DCE Nominee, Hon. Agnes Anamoo.

Hon Agnes Anamoo

Assembly members of the Nabdam District Assembly have voted to reject the president’s nominee for the Nabdam District Assembly, Hon. Agnes Anamoo at the first attempt.

Madam Agnes Anamoo was the DCE for the District during the first term of the Nana Addo government and was subsequently asked to act as the DCE of the District when the NPP won the 2020 elections till new nominees are nominated and confirmed.

The acting DCE failed to win enough votes to guarantee her confirmation as a DCE for the under developed Nabdam District. She pulled 12 votes out of a total 19 votes to secure 63.2% votes which falls short of the required 2/3 majority votes of Assembly members.

The nominee is however eligible for renomination by the president to be voted on again by members of the Assembly on a date yet to be decided on.

Earlier in the day, the president’s nominees for Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly and Bolgatanga East Districts were overwhelming confirmed by Assembly members of the two Districts with each securing 100% confidence of the Assembly members.
