The Municipal Chief Executive Nominee of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly has pulled 39 votes out of 39 Assembly members to secure 100% confirmation as the Chief Executive Officer of the capital town of the Sunshine region of Ghana, Upper East Region.
Hon. Rex Asanga contested the Bolga Central Constituency parliamentary seat on two occasions and lost both elections to the NDC candidate, Hon. Isaac Adongo. In the last election in 2020, Hon. Rex Simon Asanga pulled 19,622 votes against Hon. Adongo who pulled 36,221 to win the seat.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Simon Asanga , expressed gratude and appreciation to the assmbley members for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him, evidenced by the unanimouse confirmation of his nomination.
The incoming MCE promised to bring his long sservice experience in the area of development to bear in the assembly and work with every member of the assembly and the district at large through partnership and participation.
“ I come to this job with a background and experience of several years in the development field, and wish to assure the members of this great house and all the stakeholders of my believe in partnership , participatory and inclusive development. So no one will be left out in our efforts to move the development of our municipality forward.”
Hon. Asanga has called on everyone to come on board for the development of the municipality. He also urged assembly members to be united in tackling the developmental needs of the municipality.
“ I therefore invite each and everyone of you to an all-hands-on-deck development paradigm and philosophy. I am very much looking forward to a strong and united Assembly , especially when it comes to tackling the developmental challenges facing us as a municipality.”
Meanwhile the Member of Parliament of the Bolgatanga Central Constituency has taken to his Facebook handle to congratulate the MCE nominee for his overwhelming endorsement and thanked the Assembly ,members for endorsing his candidature.
“Congratulations to Hon. Rex Asanga and all Hon. Assembly members for speaking With one voice. I look forward to united Assembly to develop the Municipality. Congrtas , big bro. You deserve it.”
The out-going Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Amiyuure Aturah had earlier disclosed during a phone-in interview on the Word Community Watch Show, on Word FM with Simon Agana, that he will handover the mantle of the Assembly to the new MCE on Friday, 01/010/2021.
