GES To Delay Vacation Of Schools With Positive Covid-19 Cases

The Ghana education service will delay the vacation of schools that had recorded positive COVID19 cases in the last two weeks.

The second year gold track students in all second cycle schools in Ghana were called back to school to continue and complete their first semester exams on 22nd june,2020. The students have since completed their program for the first semester.

All second year Gold track students are due to return home today, Friday 31st july, 2020.

The Ghana education has however stated that not all the second years will be allowed to return home. The GES and the Ghana Health Service in a joint statement gave the criteria under which students will be allowe to go home today

  1. Any school where no positive case of COVID19 has been recorded, the students can vacate and go home.
  2. Any school that had a positive case but has not reported any new positive case within the last two weeks ,the students can vacate and go home
  3. Any school that had a new positive case within the last two weeks, all contacts within the GOLD track will have their vacation delayed for assessment and observation before they can be allowed to go on vacation and parents of such students will be notified.

The rest of the students will however be allowed to go on vacation to join their parents.

Government Distributes 100 Buses to Selected SHSs

Government has procured and distributed 100 buses to a number of Senior High Schools, with a further 250 on the way to ensure that complementary resources are provided to enable the delivery of quality education.

At a short ceremony at the forecourt of parliament where the buses havew been packed for the past two months, Vice President Bawumia handed over the keys to the heads of the selected Senior High Schools, drawn from the North Eastern, Northern, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Oti, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions.

The vice President charged the school, authorities to ensure their proper keep and use.

In the interests of fairness, schools that received buses in 2016 are not included in the distribution list this year.
