GFA President Inspects Land Earmarked For Astroturf In Upper East Region.

The Ghana Football Association President, Mr. Kurt Edwin has inspected a piece of land earmarked for the construction of an AstroTurf in Winkongo, a suburb of the Talansi district of  the Upper East Region. Mr. Okraku was in the region to have a firsthand sight of the land donated by the people and chiefs of Winkongo and the Talensi Traditional council for project and to thank the chief and people of the area for releasing the land for the project.

The landscape for the project is 6.5 acres released by the chief and people of the area with consultation from the paramount chief of Talansi.

This follows a decision by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association to use part of the project funds from the FIFA Forward 1.0 programme to construct two Astro Turfs – one at Prampram and the other at Talensi in the Upper East Region.

The project when completed will serve as the only befitting sports facility for the entire region, who have been without a green pitch for many years .The project will have artificial green pitch and floor light for 24 hour usage. The project is supposed by FIFA and named FIFA Forward 1.0 fund.

Speaking to the media in Upper East, Mr, Kurt said, his visit is to inspect the land for the project and to show appreciation to the chiefs and people of the area,

 “I am hear to inspect the land earmark for the project and to show appreciation to the chief and people of the area for releasing the land for the project”

The GFA boss first held a meeting with the RFA Executive Committee Members, before driving to Winkongo to meet the head master of Bolgatanga Senior High School, Mr. Okraku also paid a courtesy call on the chief of Winkongo, before inspecting the proposed land.

This is the first time Mr. Kurt is visiting the region after winning the GFA elections to lead the football governing body of the country. He was accompanied by the RFA chairman, Salifu Zida and other officials of the GFA and the RFA.
