Ignore False Reportage, NCCA not Reverting SHS To Two Years.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) has denied reports on various media platforms suggesting that it intern to change the duration of Senior High School and the Junior High School curriculum from the 2020/2021 academic year.

Both social media and mainstream media has been washed with claims that the NCCA will phase off the current duration of SHS and JHS.

The news articles and social media publications report that SHS duration will change from 3 years to two years while that of JHS will change from 3 years to four years.

But in a press release sighted by Word FM, the NCCA said the “the appearance of this false story is more concerning given that the NCCA has, as recently as February,2020, had to debunk similar misleading reportage”

The council said though it will implement the common core program from the next academic year, it does intern change the duration of SHS or JHS.

“the NCCA wish to state emphatically that with the planed implementation of the common core program from the  next academic year, the duration of both SHS and JHS will remain three years each”

The council has therefore advised the public to disregard such false reportage.
