Bolga Bawku Pulmakon Road: Constructor Block Road,Sets Death Trap And Vacate Site.

The contractor working on the Bolagtanaga Bawku,Pulmakon road  in the Upper East Region has blocked portions of the road with heaps of gravel and left the site which covers the portion under the Bolga East District of the Upper East region

The construction company , Queiro Galvao’ which is constructing the 116km road from the Bolgatanga township through to the Bolga East District and other adjoining districts through to PULMAKON ,abandoned the portion of the road that cover the Bolgatanga East District and blocked about 1km of it.

The constructor after blocking the road has since failed to create alternative road for commuters who stay along that stretch of the road to access their homes and offices.

The closure of that part of the road without creating alternative roads has brought a lot of discomfort to residents who have to crate their own alternative roads that sometimes go into People’s farmlands with its attended confrontations from farm owners .

Some of the commuter who have no any alternative roads have been forced to remove parts of the barriers to access their homes especially in the absence of the contractor.

In what residents describe as a trap to kill them, the contractor has used heaps of gravel to block the part of the road that is few meters from the Zuarungu Senior High School towards the customs check point.

The constructor who has vacated that stretch of the road for the past few weeks has also failed to erect road signs to indicate that there is a heap of sand at that portion.

The venues has become the next hot spot for accidents. Innocent residents and new users of the road have suffered accidents on the sport by hitting the heap of gravel and scaling to the next side.

On the 21st of July,2020, at about 6:30pm, an ambulance which was called to attend to an accident scene had it difficult accessing the road to give emergency service to the victim

In less than 3 hours, about four different accidents were recorded at the scene between. 7:00pm and 9:30pm.

A visit to the scene saw residents around that area using leaves of trees to warn users of the imminent danger ahead.

A call was made to the regional High Was director to draw his attention to the sad development and he has since promised to call the attention of the contractor to it.
