Bolgatanga East: MP to cut sod for 15 GETFund projects, a police station today― DCE discloses

The Bolgatanga East District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Jacob Aka-eri Abugre, in the Upper East Region of Ghana, has disclosed that today, 13 April 2026, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bolgatanga East Constituency and Minister of State at the Attorney-General’s Department, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, will cut sod for the construction of 15 GETFund projects and a new, befitting police station for the Bolgatanga East District Police.

Mr Abugre made the disclosure in an exclusive interview on the Word Community Watch Show with Emmanuel Kolog,he explained that the MP led the sod-cutting ceremony for the GETFund projects, which include Single-storey building girls’ dormitory block at Gambigo Day Senior High School Single-storey building boys’ dormitory block, at Gambigo Day Senior High School ,Dining hallwith a capacity of 2,500 ,two-storey science laboratory and equipment , teachers quarters, comprising two-unit semi-detached quarters (supporting accommodation for about six staff) ,additional projects of six teacher quarters for basic schools in the following communities such as Dubila Basic School(six teacher quarters) , Zuarungu Moshie (six teacher quarters) , Afegra JHS at Asonge(six teacher quarters),Kantia (six teacher quarters) Duligo (six teacher quarters),Adakura (six teacher quarters) ,Two-storey science laboratory block at Zuaguru Senior High School ,Two semi detached teacher quarters at Zuarungu Senior High School.

Mr Abugre emphasized that all the projects are funded by GETFund and were made possible through lobbying and advocacy by the MP, who pushed for them to be awarded.He further stated that, in addition to the GETFund projects, the Bolgatanga East District Police Station will also be constructed as an ultramodern district police station, funded by the MP and his friends, and will also be cut sod for today.

The DCE noted that many of the projects are expected to be completed within months, not years.

He also lamented delays in the government’s 24-hour economy market flagship project, attributing the delays to issues involving some landowners. He appealed to them to work with the paramount chief of the Zuarungu Traditional Area, Naba Bilia Malitinga Afegra III, to ensure the project is realized..
