The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kassena Nankana West in the Upper East Region of Ghana, Mr. Stephen Aeke Akurugu has vowed to pursue a new collective agenda to address the development setbacks the district has faced. The assembly’s inability to elect a presiding member during the New Patriotic Party’s era has significantly hindered its operations.

This situation has impeded meetings of the general house and subcommittees, preventing progress in addressing critical development gaps in the district. Mr. Akurugu noted that the assembly also missed out on training programs specifically designed for subcommittee leaders and the presiding member due to this issue. However, it is gratifying to announce that a presiding member has now been successfully elected, enabling the assembly to take action to meet the needs of the Kassena Nankana West District.

The DCE emphasized that poverty is a major barrier to development in the district. He urged the community to unite in the fight against poverty and to focus on development initiatives. Mr. Akurugu promised to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of resources and development projects across all communities, prioritizing the needs of the people. This approach is essential for building trust, fostering unity, and achieving balanced development throughout the district.
