The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Bureau of the Upper East Region of Ghana has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for their remarkable endorsement from Ghanaians, totalling 6 million votes.

In a statement signed by Jonathan Salifu Abdulalai, the regional communication bureau praised H.E. John Dramani Mahama on his resounding victory as President-Elect of the Republic of Ghana. The statement highlighted his exemplary leadership, commitment to national development, and vision to reset and build the Ghana we want, which have earned him the overwhelming confidence of Ghanaians, as reflected in the decisive outcome of the December 7, 2024 elections.

In the Upper East Region, John Dramani Mahama secured over 361,697 out of a total of 477,526 valid votes cast, sweeping all 15 parliamentary seats. This historic achievement mirrors the NDC’s past successes in 1996, when they won all parliamentary seats, and in 1992, when they secured all but one seat, which was held by an independent candidate, the late Hawa Yakubu.
The Upper East Regional Communication Bureau also congratulated Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on her historic achievement as Ghana’s first female Vice President-Elect. Her landmark election serves as a beacon of hope and progress for gender inclusivity and empowerment in our nation, inspiring countless women and girls across Ghana and beyond.

Additionally, the bureau celebrated the remarkable victory of all 15 elected Members of Parliament from the Upper East Region. Securing all parliamentary seats underscores the trust and confidence the people have in the NDC. This historic feat reflects the dedication and tireless efforts of the parliamentary candidates, their campaign teams, and the entire party machinery.
The bureau recognized the immense contributions of party members, supporters, branch executives, constituency executives, campaign teams, and regional elders whose sacrifices and resilience ensured this collective success despite numerous challenges. Together, they demonstrated the strength of unity and the enduring spirit of the NDC.
In their statement, the communication bureau urged the 15 elected members to remain steadfast in serving the needs of their constituents and to deliver on the transformative agenda outlined in the NDC’s ‘Resetting Ghana’ manifesto. They pledged unwavering support to the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as they work to restore hope, rebuild the economy, and create opportunities for all Ghanaians.
