In a display of unwavering confidence, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East constituency, is poised to retain his seat as elections are held today. He is also optimistic about securing a substantial vote for former President John Dramani Mahama.

Over 26,194 registered voters are expected to cast their votes across 55 polling stations in the constituency, which is divided into 16 electoral areas. Dr. Ayine has held his seat since 2012, when the constituency was carved out of the Bolgatanga Central constituency.

As voters line up today, December 7, 2024, Dr. Ayine boldly stated, “This election is going to be won hands down by myself and His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama.” His conviction resonates with supporters, who share his belief in a favorable outcome.
Reflecting on the electoral process so far, Dr. Ayine remarked on its peaceful nature. “So far, so good. There has been no incident of any electoral malpractice,” he noted, highlighting the smooth conduct of the elections. He expressed hope that voter turnout would increase as people return from the markets, eager to cast their votes.
However, not everything is without controversy. Dr. Ayine raised concerns regarding his opponent, NPP parliamentary candidate Silas Mathew Amoah. He alleged that Amoah removed the number plate from his vehicle, an act he deems inappropriate. Dr. Ayine has reported this matter to the security services, emphasizing that only national security personnel should operate vehicles without number plates. He plans to file a formal report with the district police commander to ensure proper action is taken.
As the election date unfolds, Dr. Ayine’s confidence and proactive stance reflect his determination to navigate the electoral landscape successfully. He remains hopeful not only for his campaign but also for the overall integrity of the electoral process in his constituency.
