Talensi: Allow the will of the people to prevail – Alibo

Mr Robert Alibo Ayinenaba, one of three New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate aspirants in the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Region, has appealed to his competitors and leadership of the party to allow the will of the delegates prevail this time round.

Mr Alibo was speaking to delegates of the party in the constituency, after he successfully filed to contest the party primaries for the third time .

Mr Alibo told delegates to take note of aspirants who had lost focus and are engaging in what he called ‘transactional politics’, meaning twisting the will of people by ‘vote buying’ which does not promote democracy and the interest of people.

He therefore tasked delegates to rather look out for three main key elements from aspirants: first, interest of the party, the caliber of the aspirant and the credibility of the aspirant that can attract members of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.

“We lost the power in that arrangement if everything about the party interest is not the mixed of the consideration you make in selecting parliamentary candidates and l tell you persons who have indicated they money and can win are beginning to embark on transactional politics. What transactional politics offers us is that, once I pay you money and you give me your vote that is the end of the story but the contract ends in four years and there must be respect within the leader and the led in those four years. It must not end by the exchange of money ,we will not be pursuing development in that regard, the party interest must be the number one consideration”, he said.

“The caliber of the candidate must also count, the credibility of the candidate must be counted in the sight and the minds and the eyes of the people ” he added.

Mr Alibo told delegates that he had served in positions of the party from polling station chairman, electoral area coordinator, constituency first chairman, constitution chairman and beyond, and that, he had also served as patron since he became a member of the party in 1994.

According to him, he is the number one choice of the electorate in the constituency, and the leadership of the elephant’s family in the constituency ought to allow allow the choice of the people to prevail.

“Alibo is the people’s candidate and I want to cry out, and hope God will hear this. That, he should allow the people’s will to prevaile this time , Alibo is the Talensi project , this project is bigger and requires a lot more than any constituency will need to present a candidate for a parliamentary election. We need more than NPP support alone in this constituency to deliver the seat that is why you need to put your last penni on Alibo. This is because Alibo has that skill and trick to bring in more people for our party to deliver the seat this time and I know even NDC members will be happy that I’m the parliamentarian for this constituency”, emphasised the aspirant.

He challenged his supporters to engage in clean campaign, devoid of name callings and personal attacks.
