The Assembly Member for the Atosale and Azaasi Electoral Areas in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region, Mr Stephen Avomah has appealed for support from individuals, Non-Governmental Organizations and philanthropists to complete the  construction of a stalled CHPS compound project in the area.

He said the lack of health facility in the two communities affected healthcare delivery in the area, as residents walked long distances to access healthcare at  either the Abempingo CHPS compound or the Kandiga Health Centre.

At a fund raising ceremony at Kandiga to support the construction work, Mr Avomah said the most affected in the communities were pregnant women, lactating mothers and children.

“In 2019, the elders and Assembly Member Aspirants considered CHPS compound as a priority project, and initiated processes to construct one for the community,” the Assembly Member said.

He said due to the urgent need for the CHPS compound,  the two communities mobilised  resources, and with support from the former late Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Constituency,  Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, the construction started up to lentil level.

He said the late MP initially supported them with 50 bags of cement and promised to add another 50bags  with an amount of GhȻ20,000.00 to start the project before his demise on October 14, 2021

He said the death of Mr Adda, coupled with the Doba-Kandiga conflict, affected the community initiated project, and appealed for support to enable them complete the project.

He noted that two New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Aspirants Alhaj Otito Achuliwor and Mr Joseph Adongo, both supported the initiative with bags of cement and money.

He indicated that Alhaj Achuliwor supported them with 10 bags of cement and GhȻ500.00 with a promise to support them with roofing sheets after the project is completed while Mr Adongo, who is the Chief Executive for the area, supported them with 20 bags of cement and GhȻ1000.00.
