Mirigu Naba appeals for fire station

The Paramount Chief of the Mirigu Traditional Area, Naba Anthony Anonsona Abisa Atasige III has appealed to government to establish a fire station in the area for easy access to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The area depends on the main GNFS office in Navrongo, the Municipal capital, which is some miles away from Mirigu, to combat fire outbreaks.

Naba  Atasige III, who was speaking at the homecoming event of sons and daughters of Mirigu, said a station in the Traditional Area would enable rapid response to any fire related emergencies.

The Chief further appealed for a school bus for the Mirigu Senior High School for purposes of educational and recreational visits, as the school had no means to transport to convey students.

He said the homecoming event offered indigenes the opportunity to take stock of various developments in the area, and advocate for more projects to better their lives.

“We are very conscious of the fact that happenings in the past did not create the enabling environment for the needed development of this traditional area. It is for this reason that I see this homecoming as a good catalyst for our match in seeking unity and peace,” he said.

The Paramount Chief said unity, peace and sense of purpose were key ingredients for the development and growth of Mirigu, and admonished them to continue to stay united and maintain the peace in the area.
