Dr. Mark Kurt Nawani Commissions a New Goil Station in Kongo.

The Member of Parliament for the Nabdam constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawani, has constructed and commissioned a new petrol filling station in Kongo of the Nabdam District to serve the fuel needs of the district. The station has been affiliated to the Goil company, one of the popular Oil Marketing Companies in Ghana.

The new fuel station is the only second fuel station that is operating in the district and the only station in the heart of the district. It is expected to reduce the long distances that motorists in Kongo, Pelungu, Nangodi and other nearby communities go to fuel their tanks.

Professor Saah Dittoh, who was the chairman of the ceremony to commission the station was full of praise for the MP for his initiative and decision to site the filling station in Nabdam and not any other place.

” I want to thank the Hon. MP for coming out with the idea to construct this facility and to site it here. This is part of the development we need in this district and it will employ few people from Nabdam to reduce the unemployment rate.”

Prof. Saah appealed to the Chief’s and members of the district to give the MP the Needed support to bring more development to the area.

The Nangode Nab, Naba Asaga and the Sakote Nab, Naba Asigri, all praised the Dr. Nawani for constructing the facility in Nabreg. Naba Asaga, appealed to all Nabdams to support the business of the MP and stay united for the development of the district.

“We all are happy to have this facility situated in our district. We must support it to grow and stay united as a people because it is only when we are united that we can develop.”

Hon. Mark Nawani said the construction of the filling station was started in 2003, long before he even conceived the idea to contest as a Member of Parliament to honour a request made by his father.

“I started the construction of this facility in 2003 even before I thought of becoming an MP. It was to honour my father’s request to construct this facility so that when he is old, he will use it to keep himself engaged. I initially had few problems with the land and that is why it took so long for me to complete it.”

Hon Nawani added that the fuel station forms part of his plans to reduce the unemployment rate in the district. He hinted that the facility will employ about 20 people when it is fully operational.

” This is part of my plans to bring employment to the district. When fully operational, this facility will engage about 20 Nabdams. I also have plans to build a hotel or a guest house just next to it. That one too will employ more people.”

Professor Dominic Akuritingayine, Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, who spoke on behalf of the BONABOTO MPs, congratulated his colleague MP for the initiative to construct the facility in his own Constituency and not other place. And appealed to the constituents do do everything possible to retain him as MP.

” I’m very happy for the achievement of my brother. He is the first MP in the central zone of the Upper East Region to do this in his own district and we must applaud him for that. I want to appeal to Nabdams to do everything possible to retain him as an MP in the next election to bring you more development.

The Zonal manager of Goil, Awal Mohammed, urged consumers of petrol products to choose Goil because it is a state owned company and all the proceeds that accrue from it are for Ghanaians and its development.
