Organizers of the Upper East Old Skuul Reunion an annual sports and entertainment event which started in 2018/19 edge the overall winner of the event to use the cash price that they will get to put up visible projects in their alma mater. The main aim of the Program is to bring old students to reunite and give back to the second cycle school that they were once students of.
The co-ordinator of the event, Mr. Prosper Anaba in his welcome address at the launch of this year’s edition which took place at the Blue Sky Hotel in Kumbosco a suburb of Bolgatanga East District during the weekends was passionate about how winners use monies they win as prize. He said, when the monies are used for visible projects, will help attract more sponsors. Because their logos and names will be inscribed on the project. In 2020, Old Students of Bolgatanga Technical Institute used their cash price to renovate dilapidated urinary pit which is now of good use to the school and visitors.
He added that, it is difficult getting a sponsor or sponsors to take the whole budget of the event which makes it uneasy to have a smooth organisation.
Headline sponsor for this year is Charger Limited, producers of Happy Man Plus 2 with support from Guinness Ghana and Ebony Condom and powered by Word FM. This year’s price tag is Ghc 6,000.00 for the overall winner.
The Upper East co-ordinator of Charger Limited, Mr. Edward Anafo said, they as a company is grateful for always being part of the Upper East Old Skuul Reunion and look forward to have the whole budget sponsored by them. He then thanked the people of the Upper East Region for accepting their brand in the region and edge people of the region especially their customers to continue patronising Charger Limited products.
Mercy Awane who represented Word FM edge organizers to include games that will attract ladies to participate more. She said this, when she realised that the were only two ladies in the mist of many guys. She added that, the station will continue to power the event.
This year is the 5th edition and will witness some inclusions, which is a health walk before the games starts and dinner night after the main event. This year’s disciplines include; Football, Volleyball, Sack race, Egg on spoon race, Tag of peace Video game, Cards match, Gari socking and rap battle.
The event will start on Saturday 31st Decembe, 2022 at the Bolgatanga Mobile Astro turf – climax on 2nd January 2023 at the JOCOM Hotel.
