Bongo: Residents Arrest Bull Thief at Lungu

Alleged bull thief: Rauf

Some determined and vigilant residents of the Lungu electoral area in the Bongo District of the Upper East have arrested a young man from Gueyelwongo, a community in Burkina Faso for attempting to pass through their community to the Bolgatanga market to sell a suspected stolen bull.

The alleged thief was arrested by the community members of Lungu at their community Centre at about 3am on the dawn of Wednesday 13th April,2022 and taken to the chief palace. The young man only gave his name as Rauf

The Assembly member of the Lungu Electoral Area, Mr. Philemon disclosed the arrest of the alleged thief to Mr. Simon Agana Blessing on the Word Community Watch Show on Word Fm in a phone interview. Mr. Philemon said “the community members who were going home from a graduation ceremony saw the young man with the bull at that ungodlily hour and became suspicious. They approached him and asked where he was coming from with the bull. “

The alleged thief, said he was given the bull by a Fulani herdsman from Gueyelwongo to be sold at the Bolga market. He however could not reach the Fulani man on phone after several attempts.

Mr. Philemon said Rauf eventual mentioned some names which he called to come to the chief palace to testify in his favor.

The alleged thief was still being kept at the chief palace at the time of filling this report.
