MATRICULANTS

The principal of the college Mr. Michael Yidana advised matriculants to take their academic work, among other curricular and co-curricular activities seriously.

He told the freshers to gear up for tedious and meticulous work in the coming days but was quick to add that with a little effort on their part, they were bound to excel.

“if you take things for granted it will not be easy for you, but a little effort will see you proud and smiling after two and three years of your stay in this college.”- He advised.

The Principal further advised students to; “Free your mind to learn, unlearn and relearn both academic and non-academic phenomena to allow the college to pass through you even as you pass through it.”

Also gracing the occasion was the District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East District, Hon. David Akologo Amoah.

On his part, he cautioned students against using inappropriate means of settling a disagreement with the school’s authority.

He also advised students to take their security in and around campus seriously, as there can be some unscrupulous people who would want to take advantage of their unfamiliarity with the terrain to cause harm to them but assured them of the readiness of the District Police Command to give full protection to the people and property of the college.

” When I assumed office last year, there were some security challenges around the campus but, with increased patrols around the vicinity and the establishment of a night police checkpoint closer to the school, the harassment of students have stopped and we will continue to protect lives and property on this campus, you can be assured of that.” -The DCE stated.

The Principal, Mr. Michael Yidana ceased the occasion to make known some challenges the College was bedeviled with.

“I need to hint that all is not rosy, the hard-working staffs don’t have accommodation on campus, they struggle to rent outside which is affecting both their morale and management of the college. We urgently need a 500 or more capacity hostel accommodation for students.”- Mr. Yidana stated.

The predicament of the college is not limited to accommodations challenges as the Principal noted, “The college needs a standard library, ICT laboratory and Skills Laboratory”.

Mr. Yidana commended the effort of the college’s Advisory Board Chairman, Mr. Pashcal Dongzuing for leading the college to acquire, “quite an appreciable quantity of cement from GHACEM” towards the construction of the library, and Information & Communication Technology laboratory.

The Hon. District Chief Executive also assured that his office would forward the pleas of the school to the necessary quarters for redress.

” I have taken note of your cry and will send it to the necessary authority for a solution as soon as possible” – The DCE assured.

“The Government of Nana Akuffo Addo is a listening government and the office of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is championing this whole digital agenda of the government and I am sure it will be addressed.”- The DCE stated.

MEMBERS OF THE ZUARUNGU TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

The Paramount Chief of Zuarungu Traditional Area Naba Caesar Abanga Afegrah III in a speech read on his behalf by the Tarana, Mr. J.B. Atanga expressed the readiness of the traditional authority to release land for any expansion projects the school may want to undertake in the future.

Naba used the ceremony to thank the staff and management of the college for their devotion and contribution towards the forward match of the school.

Zuarungu Nursing and Midwifery training school was established some 15 years as an extension of the Bolgatanga Nursing and midwifery training college, but it has grown to be a fully independent college and has even developed faster than its parent school (Bolgatanga Nursing and midwifery training college).

It started with only 50 students registered to undergo the Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) program and with few infrastructures available.

Today, it can boast of several infrastructures, staff, and a massive student population and has become a center of excellence, chaining out competent men and women into the nursing and midwifery environment.
