Bawku: Let’s Embrace Peace -Zuguraan

The paramount chief of Bawku, Zuguraan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II has made a passionate appeal to the people of  Bawku to lay down their arms and give peace a chance.

A renewed  conflict between the Mamprusi and Kusaasis is said to have claimed the lives of Several innocent souls.

“All Traditional rulers in Kusaug Traditional Area should ensure sanity in their various  jurisdiction and also assist security agencies to ensure law and order, I appeal to  all and sundry within the Kusaug Traditional Area to lay down their Arms give peace a chance to prevail.
 I also wish to inform you to be vigilant in various communities and report any unknown stranger or visitor within your vicinity immediately to the Security as the Traditional Area boarders two Africa countries (Togo and Burikina Faso). This is to support the security in their fight against foreign invaders”.

President Nana Akuffo Addo who initially invited the Nayiri of the Mamprungu and the Zuguraan of Kusaug following  the conflict in the area urged for peace.

The Bawku Naba, Asigri Azoka II who addressed the Kussaug traditional Council after his trip to the Flagstaff house on the request of the president of the republic, reiterated his call for peace. The President, Nana Akuffu Addo confirmed the instructions that was given to the Chieftaincy Minister to issue a White Paper on the Bawku Chieftaincy Issue and assured Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II that he remains the lawful Bawku-Naba per the Constitution of Ghana and that any attempt to enskin another person as such would be an illegality and that he will not tolerate such a situation.
 
President Nana Akuffo Addo also appealed to Zuguraan to assist the government to secure peace in Bawku and its environs.

Naba Asigri also thanked the president and his security apparatus for their timely intervention in Bawku  to curtail the fatal attacks on innocent citizens without which there would have been a blood bath in Bawku. The traditional ruler sent his deepest condolences to all families who lost relatives in the battle he described as unnecessary.

Zuguraan Palace.

The overlord of the Kusaug Traditional area appeal to the people of the area to abide by the safety measures put in place to bring lasting peace in the area,”I urge you as chiefs to advise all your people to abide by the regulations put in place security apparatus in order to be able to control the current violence.

I wish to assure you all that the perpetrators of the current violence will not succeed in what they wish to achieve”
 
Naba Abugrago however sent a strong warning that Kusaug remain theirs and no other ethnic group can ever again rule and therefore  called on all tribes to live peacefully with each other.
