Bawku unrest: Bawku Naba, Nayire called to Flagstaff house.

Information available to my wordfmonline.com indicates that the president of the Kussaug traditional council, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II and the chief of Nalerigu, Naa Mahami Bohagu have both been called to the Flagstaff house over the unending impasse between the Kussasis and Mamprusis in Bawku.

Word news can report that the chief of Nalerigu was first called to the Flagstaff house where he had a closed door meeting with the the President, Nana Addo Akuffo Addo.

Our source can confirmed that the Bawku Naba has also responded to the president’s call this morning.

The state is said to be putting in measures to curtail the chronic chieftaincy induced conflict. The renewed conflict is said to have been triggered by attempts from the Mamprusi devide to perform the funeral rites of the late Alhaji Adam who died some 41 years ago.

The Bawku Naba is said to have complained openly over how one Alhaji Adam parades himself as a regent of Bawku. The Kussaug traditional council at a press conference at the Bawku Naba’s palace called for his arrest and prosecution.

An unknown gunmen shot and killed three persons including a police officer in the heart of the Bawku township on Sunday.

More to come!
