UER: Support our Community-Led Police Station Project – Winkogo Naba

The Chief of the Upper East region town of Winkogo in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region – Naba Moses Aganzuah Akolgo has appealed for support towards his community’s efforts in putting up a police station.

Speaking at this year’s Tingana festival of the chiefs and people of Winkogo, Naba Moses Aganzuah  Akolgo bemoaned the increasing spate of crime in the area and called for a collective support towards the putting up of the police edifice initiated by the community. The presence of a police station, he noted will help curb the increasing spate of crime “As we are all here, we want peace in Winkogo. we don’t want any unpleasant situation to happen like conflict, stealing, robbery. That is why we’ve come together as youth to build a police station with an aim of getting rid of all crimes. when the police station is completed, it will help guide our children from growing wayward and to ensure we live in harmony”.

He bewailed the fallen standard of education in the community “schools used to produce good results, but things have changed due to the rising number of social vices as well teenage pregnancies, early marriages among others”.

He cautioned young girls to stay away from premarital sex as well as other vises that can destroy their future. He called on parents to be responsible over their wards.

The festival is celebrated annually to give thanks to the ancestors for bumper harvest. The occasion is used to display the cultural heritage of the people. 

He called for unity among his people. Naba Akolgo added that their forebearers warned against disunity and that anyone or group that ply contrary will incur the wrath of the ancestors.

He entreated all citizens of  Winkogo   to patronize the Covid-19 vaccines.
