Bawku conflict: social media warmonger, others arrested.

Information available to www.mywordfmonline.com indicates that one Naa Tampuri, a social media personality has been arrested by National Security officials for his alleged social media activism that has led to recent gun battle between the two rival factions.

Sporadic gunshots Monday morning left some people killed with others nursing varied degrees of gunshots injuries. He was arrested alongside some persons said to be operatives of the National security.

Naa Tampuri has been accused of inciting some youth in Bawku to violence through his Facebook account.

The National Peace Council in a press release called for calm and tasked the feuding factions to use nonviolence means to solve the impasse.  

Some operatives of the National Security were accused of shooting to death some unarmed civilians. The Bawku Municipal Chief Executive, Amadu Hamza in an interview on a Bawku based local radio station [Source FM] condemned the action of the operatives. “it is bad, the death of one person is very important. We are angry at them. I am not a happy man. I have reported the matter to the national security minister, I have reported the matter to the interior minister and the defense minister as well”.

Meanwhile, the ban imposed on the wearing of smock within the Bawku Municipality has been relaxed for one day [29/12/21] by the Upper East Regional Security Council.
