UER: Bolgatanga -Bawku- PolimKom road Supplementary Agreement Cost 127M Euros.

The preliminary contract sum for the Upper East Region stretch of the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakoum road project was pegged at GH¢ 613 million when it was awarded to two contractors; Mawums Construction Limited, a Ghanaian company, and Queiro Galvao, a Brazil contraction firm.

The two contractors withdrew their equipment from the project site for close to a year due to non-payment of arrears. speaking to the resident engineer, Chief Peter Dagadu on the ‘Word Community Watch’ a daily radio program on a Zuarungu based local Radio station, Word FM, he disclosed that about 127 million euros which is equivalent to Eight hundred and fifty million, two hundred and fourteen thousand and two hundred Ghana cedis Gh 850214200 supplementary agreement cost has so far been approved for the project.

In March 2020, a sum of €139.4 million was approved by Parliament to finance the construction of phase one of the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Polimakom road.

The amount was to be provided by HSBC Bank and KEW IPEX Bank GmbH. Under the credit arrangement, the HSBC Bank Plc., United Kingdom will lend a total of up to €68,000,000.00 and km IPEX GmbH will also lend up to €72,000,000.

The agreements were presented to parliament on March 24, 2020 by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on behalf of the Minister of Finance, and were approved by the House.
