The Upper East Old Skuul Reunion 2021 which is the 4th edition has been launched to commence on the 31st December, 2021 and end on 2nd January, 2022. The main aim of this event is to bring Old Students of various Senior High Schools together to foster unity among them to help develop their alma matter. This year’s event is titled sponsored by Adonko with support from Guniess and fan milk.
The event started in 2017. Since its inception, three Old Students Association won the altimate namely; Zamse Senior High Technical School Old Students Association in 2017 they took an amount of Ghc 500.00, which they use the money to buy cement for their alma matter, Bolgatanga Senior High School Old Students Association won it in 2018 and they use their money which was Ghc 1,000.00 to buy street lights for their alma matter and the current champions, Bolgatanga Technical Institute Old Students Association took an amount of Ghc 3,000.00 in 2019, and they also use their money to renovate an almost collapse washroom in their alma matter. In 2020 the event did not come on because of the Corona Virus pandemic.
This year’s event is taking a different trench, which is communities where these schools are located will offer support to these Associations. The Association takes 70% whiles 30% goes to communities in terms of participation. The activities for the event has been; Football, Volleyball, Tag of Peace, Cards match, egg on spoon race, 100 meters race, sack race.
The program co-ordinator, Prosper Anaba in delivering this presentation elibrated on the aim of the event and how this year it will go. He disclosed that overall best Old Students Association will take an amount of Ghc 5,000.00 which will be used for a project in their alma matter.
In getting the overall winner, head of Sports at Word FM, Bawah Swanzy Ayaribila explained how percentage have been allocated to the various sports disciplines to get that. This is to prevent using only one sports discipline in determining the overall winner.
