Bolgatanga: Two Arm Robbers Lynched after they Met their Meter.

Two suspected arm robbers have been lynched by a mob in Nyariga, a community under the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region after a failed broad day robbery operation.


Luck eluded the two young men who are in their twenties after an arm robbery attack on a motor rider at about 4:00pm, Saturday 17th April, 2021 failed, leading to their arrest and lynching.

The Word news team got information that two young men have been lynced at Nyariga on Saturday, 17th April, 2021 at about 4:00 pm


The two men were killed at separate locations within the same area when word news got to the scene.
Information gathered at the scene of the incident has it that the young men are believed to have trailed an unidentified man from Bolga township where he bought a brand new motor bike on rout to Zorkor, a community in the Bongo District

Unpon reaching a bridge at Nyariga, a popular area for irrigation farming, the arm robbers tried snatching the motor from him but, the man fought back with resistance. One of the suspected arm robbers then pulled a gun and shot at the man five times in the process but the bullets wouldn’t penetrate the man.


The victim then hit one of them with a wood and shouted for help which attracted people to the scene.
One of the guys who was later on identified as Yahaya Mohamed was arrested at the scene by the mob with an unregistered Royal motor bike. He was given severe beatings and later on burnt with the motor on top of him.
Little information gathered indicate that Yahaya Mohamed is an ex-convict who has been sentenced three times and is even on court bail.

The other young man was chased and arrested as he attempted running. He was also beaten by the mob till he gave out the ghost. word News has also gathered that he is on the wanted list of the Upper East Regional Police command.


The regional crime officer of the Ghana Police Service of the Upper East Region, ASP Edward Asante led a team to the scene and conveyed the bodies with the motor bike to the Upper East Regional Hospital.


The Director of Operations of the Upper East Regional police service, DSP John Kofi, said information about the incident was scanty.
