Police Officers Flee As Angry Youth Vandalize Two Vehicles.

Some angry youth of Azimsum, a suburb of Sumbrungu in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region, on Wednesday beat up police officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service over an awful accident which claimed the life of a productive young man.

The youth who vented their anger at the police, accused the latter of causing the accident after they impounded a kia truck with registration number Aw -1147-11 loaded with timber which was on its way to Navrongo.

They said the vehicle which was wrongfully parked in the middle of the road had its traffic indicator covered by its gate which made the car invisible for incoming motorists, a reason which led to the untimely death of Ayine who was returning from his family house in Bolga to his Sumbrungu residence.

The deceased, identified as Adugbire Ayine, who was on a Honda motorbike with registration number UE -5894- 19 hit the back of the said vehicle which was parked in the middle of the road and died instantly.

The deceased, believed to be in his late forties, was a businessman and a livestock farmer who supported and nurtured most of the youth in Bolga and Sumbrungu.

The angry youth vandalized the police pickup and smashed the windscreen and the door of the kia truck, and accused the police of sheer negligence, and warned against such negative act.

It took the intervention of a huge number of police officers from the Regional police command to salvage their colleagues who fell prey to the youth brutality.

Five of the roaring youth, Word news understands, are in the grips of the police to assist investigations in that regard.
