It took the intervention of some level headed individuals to prevent a deadly clash between members of a group calling itself “Concern NPP faithful’s” and some supporters of the District Chief Executive(DCE) and the 2020 parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party((NPP), Hon. Peter Ayimbisa .
On Tuesday, April,l 27th 2021 , the ‘Concern NPP Faithfuls’ organized a demonstration against the reapointment of the Bongo DCE over some alleged misconduct on his part which resulted in the party’s inability to win the Bongo seat for the NPP party. The group numbering about 40, matched through some principal streets of the Bongo District to press home their concerns.
But some ‘macho’ men believe to be supporters of the DCE and known NPP supporters in the district would not allow it. They made attempts to stop the group from proceeding with their demonstration with the claim that the action of the demonstrators was “washing the dirty linens” of the party but the demonstrators would not allow that which nearly turned into a scuffle.
When the demonstrators got closer to the Bongo SHS towards the party office, it was rumored that some people were also planning to disrupt the demonstration so everyone should ‘guard himself/herself’ all the same they continued notwithstanding the caution.
Surprising, the “show” had to take a ‘U-turn’ about hundred meters to the old party office where they intended to address the Press. Some supposed supporters of the DCE had occupied it, with others blocking the road and daring the demonstrator to ‘come and face them’.
Many of the demonstrator started arming themselves with claps and pebbles, fearlessly and furiously charged for an ‘all die be die’ war.

At this point, the inevitable was bound to happen, but the intervention of a senior party member was able to cool tempers and ensured that the charged atmosphere which could have become deadly became calm. The scene looked liked the next ‘clash of the titans’.
He managed to persuade the demonstrators to change their route and addressed the Press on the shoulders of the road. He also persuaded the other party (DEC supporters) to cease fire.
The demonstrators matched through the principal streets of Bongo and held placards that had inscriptions like: stop disrespecting elders of the party, Ayimbisa is building the Party in his belly, Chop-Chop DCE, another four years of Ayambisa will spell doom for NPP in Bongo and cladding in the NPP paraphernalia yelling ‘’we don’t want Ayimbisa’’ and other unprintable words against the DCE.
The ‘Concern NPP faithful’s had earlier petitioned the regional executives over their grievances. The ruling of the panel on the case lead by the Upper East region which resulted in the dismissal of the petition did not go down well with them.

The group (concern NPP faithfuls) alleged that: ‘’ He (Mr. Ayimbisa) campaigned for “skirt and blouse” in the 2020 general election, he also engaged in divide and rule, misapplication of campaign funds, he single-handedly distributed some (party logistics) to his girlfriends, cronies and families’’.
