UE/R: Don’t disappoint John Dramani Mahama as NPP appointees did to the people of the Upper East Region—Abraham Lambon urges all appointees

Mr Abraham Lambon Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress Upper East Region.

The Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on all government appointees to ensure they do not disappoint President John Dramani Mahama, as they feel some New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointees disappointed the region under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Abraham Lambon, Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC and a Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, urged appointees to avoid repeating what he described as the “mistakes” of NPP appointees particularly their alleged failure to support the youth and ordinary people in the region.

According to Mr. Lambon, during the NPP’s time in power, many appointees allegedly prioritized their own families and friends instead of supporting loyal party members and the people of the Upper East Region.

He cited former CEO of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Mr. Hanan Abdul Wahab Aludiba, who served as head of the company between 2017 and 2024.

Mr. Lambon alleged that Mr. Hanan focused on personal interests rather than using his position to help the loyal people of the Upper East Region to grow.“Mr. Lambon said he appealed to all appointees of President Mahama, reminding them that the President has entrusted them with the responsibility to serve ordinary Ghanaians and ensure that loyal party members who sacrificed to keep the NDC in power also benefit from government,” the statement said.

He added that appointees should ensure that any appointment that comes through government should pass through the party structure, so that youth in the region benefit from government opportunities.

Mr. Lambon further emphasized that President Mahama remembers how, for the past eight years in opposition, the NDC youth and supporters toiled, sacrificed, and experienced losses even as colleagues were recorded as late.

Scholarship and Youth Support

Speaking exclusively to Word News on the Word Community Watch show on Monday, 25th May 2026, Mr. Lambon said the NDC government came to do what he claims the NPP government did not do when they were in power.

He said the NDC promised during the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections to ensure every institution in the region benefited through scholarships for students, especially needy students.

He stated that, through what he described as the “national youth organizer and national team coordinator,” every institution in the region has been given 10 scholarship slots to support needy students.

He explained that the region has 11 institutions, and as a result, “every school is getting 10 students, describing this as proof of government’s commitment to rewarding the youth.

Mr. Lambon also encouraged students in tertiary institutions to take advantage of NDC youth programs. He said the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC has recognized that the party’s student wing operates as part of the youth wing, adding that its main programs include political education, grassroots mobilization, leadership training, and youth advocacy on tertiary campuses.

He therefore urged students to work hard and learn from party leaders. He advised them to take advantage of opportunities to connect with people during events, saying that “networking is the biggest asset in politics.”

According to him, students should use such connections to identify mentors and role models who can guide them to grow.

Warning Appointees and Call for Youth Action

Mr. Lambon further cautioned that even though the party is now in power, some appointees may still be tempted to focus on personal interests.

He said if appointees continue to prioritize family and friends while ignoring those who sacrificed for the party, he would mobilize the youth to protest against such individuals.“This is not the time to joke. The youth sacrificed for the party, and now it is time to reward them for their sacrifices,” he stressed.
