Mr. Donald Tuumyeridam, the Executive Director of FEDOSAM, a non-governmental organization based in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region of Ghana, has donated school uniforms, footwear, and chalk to vulnerable children in four selected basic schools.
These children often have limited access to resources and are forced to walk barefoot to school or wear torn clothing. The donation benefited four basic schools across the eastern, northern, and western parts of the district.

Mr. Tuumyeridam emphasized that he did not want to limit his support to just one area, as the children of Kassena Nankana West are all part of a connected community. Schools that received support include Nabio Primary School, Kawenia D/A Primary School, and Kaasi Primary School, among others. Each school received 25 pairs of footwear, 25 sets of uniforms, socks, and 30 boxes of chalk.

During a media interview, Mr. Tuumyeridam shared that this initiative stemmed from his own experiences growing up with limited access to educational resources. He explained that seeing students in his hometown without uniforms or sandals deeply moved him. After discussions with his wife, they established FEDOSAM Foundation to provide support to underprivileged students so they can participate fully in the educational system.
Mr. Tuumyeridam highlighted the importance of giving back to society, stating that one’s background should not dictate their potential. He stressed that the impact one makes in their community is far more valuable than material possessions. “You don’t need to have more to help. The little that you have, you just need to share it with society,” he remarked.

The headmistress of Nabio D/A Primary School, Mrs. Hawa Sumaila, expressed her gratitude for Mr. Tuumyeridam’s generous donation, noting that it would significantly boost student attendance and learning. She recounted instances of children feeling self-conscious due to their clothing, which hindered their participation in class. “This support has come at a crucial time and will help relieve these children from the burden of wearing torn uniforms,” she said.Mr. Edward Kubachua, the Assistant Headmaster of Kawenia D/A Primary School, also extended his appreciation for the donation.

He assured Mr. Tuumyeridam that they would utilize the supplies effectively and requested ongoing support to help additional children in need.
Mr. Tuumyeridam’s initiative not only provides essential resources for education but also serves to inspire hope and uplift the spirits of vulnerable students in the Kassena Nankana West District.
