Talensi NDC Aggrieved Youth Appeal to John Dramani Mahama to Withdraw DCE Nominee

Mr Charles King Luu, leader of the NDC Aggrieved Youth Talensi District.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Aggrieved Youth in the Talensi District, led by Mr. Charles King Luu has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to withdraw the nomination of John Millim Naabwonya as the Talensi District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee. They believe that this action is necessary to prevent further chaos in the district, located in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

According to the youth, information from state security reports indicates that John Millim Naabwonya is unsuitable for the DCE position. They claim that during the vetting process, the security apparatus filed a situational report with the National Security, warning that nominating Naabwonya could lead to chaos in Talensi District.

Speaking to the media at the Catholic Farmers Training Centre in Posu-Namongo, Mr. Luu urged President Mahama to demand a thorough background check based on the full report compiled by the security agencies. The youth suspect that the report may have been concealed from the president prior to the nomination.

“We are reliably informed that the state security apparatus gathered intelligence during the vetting process that John Millim Naabwonya was not suitable for the DCE position. We plead that President Mahama demand a further background check on this nominee and request a copy of the report, as we believe it was hidden from him. Doing so would not only protect the image of the NDC but also contribute to the peace and security of the Talensi District,” they stated.

In addition, Mr. Luu accused Mr. Naabwonya of having close ties with Tongraana, an NPP activist, suggesting that this relationship could jeopardize the interests of Talensi residents. He warned that if Naabwonya is appointed, it could effectively mean NPP influence over the district, despite the NDC being in power nationally.

When contacted on Sunday, the nominee told Word News: “Leave me out of this.” But he called Word News back some minutes later, saying he was attending a funeral and would speak later.
