Members of the Alagumgube Association, including its founding member, Mr. Gabriel Agambila and several chiefs from the Upper East Region visited the proposed airport site located at Sumbrungo Anateem in the Bolgatanga municipality.

Mr. Agambila was accompanied by Mr. Gilbert Alolika, CEO of LOLEE CONSTRUCTION LIMITED, for a working visit to the airport site. During their visit, Mr. Alolika informed the media that the development at the proposed site, which is currently around 30% complete, had made little progress until the intervention of the Alagumgube Association.

Mr. Agambila urged the people of the Upper East Region, along with civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and community-minded individuals, to unite in supporting the realization of the airport project, rather than solely relying on government assistance.
A native of the region currently residing in the U.S., Mr. Agambila called upon the eminent chiefs present at the site to continue their advocacy for regional development. The chiefs lauded the group’s efforts and encouraged them to maintain their push for progress.

Mr. Alolika expressed that, after assessing the quality of the runway, it would be beneficial for the military to begin using the site for landings, as current landings at the stadium cause significant inconvenience. He offered his expertise to help ensure the project’s success.
Madam Habiba Alhassan, a member of the Alagumgube Association, also called on everyone in the region to support the initiative, stating that collective action is needed to achieve this critical project.
The group communicated with His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, who was visiting the region for his thank-you tour, through the voices of the local chiefs.

Mr. Agambila expressed gratitude to the contractors who joined them on-site to conduct preliminary groundwork. He also addressed the skepticism of those who doubt the potential patronage of the aviation sector in the region due to poverty, emphasizing that the Upper East Region is one of the oldest in Ghana, making the need for an airport long overdue.
Mr. Edward Azamo Alemiya, who spoke on behalf of the chief of Sumbrungo, thanked the Beo Kunaba and the people of Sumbrungo Anateem for releasing their land for the airport development, highlighting the economic benefits it would bring to the region. He appealed to all residents to support the project’s realization.
